14d Lord of the Flies author is Golding meaing g is the middle letter of the clue to 23a: 23a Name of two Old Testament books. Surely this is Kings but has anyone actually got it to fit? k?g?s

Very embarrassed admission. Did not read the Q properly - was Lord of the Rings (not Flies). So Kings does indeed fit.

Under the circumstances dare I ask what anyone else has for 13a mad n?t?? (5)
