Been enjoying the sunshine of late and
sitting in it whilst doing the xword was,
indeed, pleasurable. Just want to confirm
one of the solutions, which I haven't yet
entered. This is 29 Ac:- "First casualty in
car crash showing a generous amount of
alcohol." (6) I have -U-P-R and presume
that the answer is BUMPER, but not 100%
sure about this.

Bumper - a large glass of alcohol filled to the brim.

I think 'bumper' is correct, but I think it's quite a poor clue. Your (car) bumper would be the first casualty in a crash, and a bumper can also mean 'a cup or glass filled to the brim for drinking a toast'.

Thanks, AB and Malone! Yes, Malone,
I thought this was a weak one too -
hence the doubt.
