I am stalled on the LHS. Could anyone confirm (or otherwise) that the second word in 2dn is LADIES?
Educationalist, misguided 'n' boring, passes on to those in charge of 6 etc. (9,6)
(6 is an educational establishment)
The 'n' part looks rather clumsy for Araucaria!

It's not LADIES, but **DIES is OK.

Thanks, virginian. I put "dies" for "passes on", then jumped to a conclusion!

I've barely begun on this (though that does not mean that I started doing it only a short while ago).
For that clue my answer is a plural animal with those 2 letters but not in the positions which you have given them.

I could be very wrong!

For 14d I'm tempted t put the name of a vehicle one might use in the Arctic...but I cannot parse it unless teh first half of the word can mean 'Gold'.
"Transport from gold to bay."
I'd be glad if someone could confirm and explain, or correct my error?

Hi twm
It's a more prosaic vehicle. Typical crossword "gold"
