Leon, thanks a lot. I think you're right. Those answers make sense. I'm not too bothered about the endgame as I never send entries in, It's just great to have a filled grid.

Leon I've got POSSE as well for 33Dn. Sorry if I confused you but it became POYSE after conversion in the end game. Similarly SCORE at 41Ac became YBORE.

Well done Leon! I enjoyed this crossword especially as it was about my favourite sport. I was expecting a puzzle based on Wimbledon or the Ashes and was quite surprised when the theme emerged. I think Liverpool will need to improve their attacking next season if the passing here is anything to go by - they didn't even get a shot at goal. Best wishes.
