Hello friends: Radio Times Christmas crossword has me stumped on two, so any help much appreciated:

25 down - Carol, Bostonian, rubs you the wrong way (4,2,1,3,2,4)
I have the following letters: U----/U-/A/-O-/I-/B-R-

32 across - Go into the middle of America? Nonstarter (5)
I have E---R, which looks easy but I can't work out Nonstarter.

Any help very much appreictaed.
Thank you

Think of an American word which is a synonym for "middle" and take of the first letter (nonstarter). Then you have a word which means "go into".
