Can anyone help with this one:

weird goings on (if your e is in the wrong place)

...or maybe the compiler can't spell "weird" (not uncommon - did you ever play "Elite" on the old BBC computer?)

No, I'm afraid in those days I was an Atari ST user!

I was on a committee at school for reporting etc. The English teacher on the committee compiled a "style guide" to help teachers writing reports from making errors. I remember one entry was "i before e except after c, apart from some weird exceptions" because the "weird exceptions" bit had to be explained to the Deputy Head, who hadn't understood the reference!

A funny recollection Chris, my Dad was a headmaster of a primary school and he used to have many funny anecdotes of school life as well.
