15 down First note after Bach prelude removed, cut out? what a let down (9)

P?R?C?U?E

Obviously 'Parachute' can see Bach 'prelude removed' = ACH then stumped for a full parse, all help appreciated.

first note = UT
(B)ach
pare (to cut [on the outside])

what a let down = DEF
to come down by parachute

cut out = pare
ach = (B) ach
ut= first note
parachute=let-down !!!

an improbable answer
Bach prelude removed = ach which leaves 'parute' cut out(side) = pare and cut out again = (o) ut
I said it was improbable!

For chiff: your theory would not explain "first note", & that is (acc. to Ch.) exactly what "ut" is!

Surley the 4 should be 12
