I'm really stuck!

2dn> very thin ????n?
3dn> type of tree ???
8ac> key to a code ?????r

These are the last codes and I think if I could get just ONE of them, I could get the others, I thought 1ac could be "grimace" but can't make it work with the other clues!!! It's probably something obvious (usually is). . . .
