Give me a break!!!! All that tech jargon, and I don't "do" holy water thank you very much!!! Seriously though I am a bit worried and I have phoned a trusted computer nerd who is coming to sort me out! thanks again for your help chaps.

I don't think you need worry Helen, just a bit of a nuisance.
I too (along with Big Dave)would recommend using Firefox as your browser with add-ons(I use adblock plus).

I find Adblock Plus to be so successful that when someone is complaining about adverts I have to switch to Internet Explorer to see them!

Flashblock is another useful one that only allows Flash animation to operate when you want it to, and you can customise the sites that it applies to - the best of both worlds.

I also use Flashblock!
Can I just say Helen, I don't work for any of the makers of this stuff and it is all free.

... and you don't need to be a nerd to be able to install it.
