...where the setter is prone to talking crap and the editor misprinting the clues...

To interrupt with one lot of books is not polite (7). I-T-U-E. Probably Intrude but why?

And 2 I can't get:

Mark of a moth (5). C---A.
Join the union (5). --R-Y. (I think the Y is OK. It comes from "The hen's, of course" for which I have 'laYer'.)

Many thanks.

I have to say, in the light of your comments, pooksahib, that I was under the impression that the comma was a butterfly, not a moth, but someone else may know better.

Thanks to you all. I'd no idea the comma was a butterfly OR a moth. Perhaps the distinction is only really important to the butterfly in question...

Butterfly vs Moth debate ...

I looked this up and 'comma' is most often a butterfly although the http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=1854">Shoulder-striped Wainscot Mythimna comma seems to be flying the flag for moths everywhere.
