Last one, and I can't see where to find the answer...
27a. Dancer set apart from odd characters in area (4) -C-E.
Odd characters would be AE, so AC-E, but why would dancer be ACME or ACHE?
As ever, any help welcome.

Take the odd characters out of dAnCeRsEt and you are left with ACRE = area
