One to parse from todays DM please.

17a Soldiers turned over guy from somewhere in Italy (5)

R ? M ? N

I believe the Ans is Roman

Soldiers turned over (Other Ranks reversed) + man (guy)

somewhere in Italy = roman ????

Is it me or can someone explain. Ps, the DM is my fav and I love to parse the clues to the full.
Sorry for being a pedant.

You've done it yourself Shooty

Your parse is correct, Roman being from Rome in Italy

this is the bit that i don't get

'somewhere in Italy'

Surely that would be Rome and NOT Roman, If you see what I mean.

'from somewhere in Italy' rather than just 'somewhere in Italy' gives Roman.

Trevor, you're a star. I was hoping the DM wouldn't let me down, and it didn't. I let myself down, but can sleep well now. Cheers : )
