Ha, ha Ari! I actually heard it used in Ireland on more than one occasion. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaMaybe it originates there? Who knows!

The only multi word answer I could find to fit was 'quite a few ' but for obvious reasons it didn't parse! I've never heard of devil a bit so would never have got it, especially without any crossers.

Yes Rossim. I'm inclined to agree with you and I'll try to avoid phrases which are "too obscure" in future.

Nevertheless, the answer was in the clue and the phrase is a "head phrase" in Chambers, so it was kinda fairish to use it. I certainly would not have included it had it not been in Chambers.
