Well, it's my turn now. I've got two left for which I can't find good answers.

19D One protects Hazel from crazy, horrible experience (8) ?U?R?E?L

20D Mentioned bloke with thin fabric (8) ?E?D?E?E

In case you think I may have something awry, the known letters of these two are the fourth and last letters of 24A, 27A, 29A and 31A respectively. The first three of these I am pretty sure of, but 31A might be wrong.

24A Holding smashed tureen - TENURE
27A Pretentious fellow embarrassed by US city - FLARED
29A Get me a different cell - GAMETE
31A The French tell stories for him - LESLIE

Hi John

I think FLARED might be wrong and should be FLASHY. This would give NUTSHELL for 19d and TERYLENE for 20d, but not sure about Terylene.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Genius - SuzieM
I thought Flared might be wrong but couldn't see any alternative.
Terylene sounds good to me.

Thanks SuzieM, that looks like it. Isn't it amazing how a fresh pair of eyes works wonders.
