Can anyone explain the parsing of 28d: You might see this end up in an opera. ?RIA. Must be 'aria', but why?

There is an opera called Maria Stuarda but I don't know if that's what the compiler meant.

Or could it be 'air A' upside down, as in a da capo aria, where strophe or air A is followed by B and ends in A? But this may be a bit too obscure even for AZED!

I think it might refer to the Strauss opera Ariadne auf Naxos. Ariadne gives you Aria + end up.
