Once again I get to Friday and need help to finish before the next one comes tomorrow! No-one else on the forum seems to have had trouble with 29A: "Familiar address to fairy spoken". T? ?A??. I presume the first word is TU (familiar address in French) ... but then what? And I haven't put in the last letter because I'm not sure why 30D should be "fur and feather" (but I think it is!) Can anyone help please.

It was Au Fait familiar with. The 'fait' part sounds like 'fey', hence 'fairy'.
I can't help with 30 D as I don't have the paper and you haven't given the clue.

Thanks, mamya. That's better! Fur & feather is apparently a kind of collective reference to game birds and animals: tar and feather actually makes sense! The clue to 29a had deceived me - as I'm sure it was meant to - into construing "familiar address" as a unit, leading to the concept of tutoyer. Devilish cunning.
