You are wrong with your definitions which is why you are struggling. Stone is one but not for any of the ones that you mention. The correct ones for the four that you are missing can be found in 17a, 26a, 30a and 25d. (They are not all just one word.) Also your first question mark shouldn't be there!

Nick,
I can't see how SHEEP, FEMALE, PERSON are not definitions?
Their clues within which they are contained work just as well without them?
Totally stumped now!!!

Hi Crackability, 'Sheep-rot' is one word so can't be split. 'Sola' is the feminine form of alone so needs female in the clue in the same way that archaic etc. indicators are necessary. 'Person' is a bit unfortunate in that the clue does kind of work with or without it but isn't a definition.

Sorry, I should make clear that it is the first question mark in your second row that shouldn't be there, the one before the E.

It's slab - you'll see why when you put all your perimeter words in a list and compare them
