I have Socrates for Greek philosopher 3 ac , but this leaves me with aromatic plant, 7 letters sp-g--l? Think I've gone wrong somewhere! Help!

I'm having problems with the 2 coming down from plant 14D colourful so I've put nigella, but it makes 20A part of foot in 6 letters very difficult to work out. Has anyone a better answer ?

Also what about 21A ill-defined matter (4,4). G?E?/A??A

Just worked out 21A as Grey Area! Still stuck on 20A part of foot in 6 letters L?S?O?

How sure are you of the intersecting letters?

The L comes from nigella (colourful plant in 7 beginning with N). The O from tripod for stand for hot pot.
