Can someone give me a hint about the location of the weapon in this crossword? I have found GROUND, BODY and DRAIN but can't find anything touching the "body" that might be the weapon. Many thanks.

Its not a well known word, I had to look it up, but your third suggestion will be of use.

Thanks mrm - I was so near and yet so far. It's interesting that the word can also be used as a verb! The weapon is also given in Bradfords Crossword Solver.

I spotted the weapon, but I am a little confused as to the way the "Correct" detective is entered.
Is there an abbreviation ?

Dave - I am suddenly confused! I had the detective as C but I fear it is probably B. Presumably the drain leads to the lake!

Yes I see what you mean Leon but I thought that in the grid the ???? was under GROUND so was it floating? I assumed that the ???? was in the D???N at the end of the G????N!!!!!

unclued, the central 'evidence' words are, ground, body, mere and eden, the position of the 'body' is 'floating on lake' , the other two 'contradict' as per preamble
