I think we all are, but at least this will bring it to the top again to see if there are any clues around.

Could the "offence" be SIN? In which case some possibilities are:

AMUSING - SIN in A MUG!!
CASINOS - SIN in CAOS
KISSING - SIN in K (monarch) + ISG???
MUSINGS - SIN in MUGS
ROUSING - SIN in ROUG(ue)

Food for thought anyway.

Thanks John. The answer has to be connected with entertainment, so casinos would work, if there was some connection with the monarch's school. As the answer only has 7 letters the offence bit has to be quite a small word like sin. Ideas for the monarch's school are Eton (founded by one of the Henrys) or KEGS (King Edward VIII Grammar School, which is in Chelmsford, local to where the quiz is set. Any other ideas will be much appreciated!

Hi.

As per previous thread, the incredibly well-known music band Elipton ('lip'/offence in 'Eton') - the one that took the world by storm (remember?) - may have entertained San Francisco at least twice at the Edinburgh Castle Pub in that fine city.

Two links (as if proof were needed):

P.S. Ok - just kidding.

Crikey, it was only a suggestion, should I slither back to Lesser Mortal Land from whence I feel I came?

lol Helen,
JimC is possibly the politest person on this forum.I'm sure you might be taking offence where none was intended.
Your suggestion is as valid as all the others, I think it may turn out to be a poor clue to start with.
