true, quite easy even at my relaxed pace, but can't see the "single square" with "something valuable". Anybody that bit further yet?

It may be easy, but the clues are truly brilliant and the construction is masterful. I have to confess that I didn't notice the pattern till I was finished.

The big X & its centre seems rather obvious, but I was expecting something more.
