Hi both
8dn is "grass" as in "tell on a fellow criminal", around an object that is indisputably flat, though doesn't immediately spring to mind, meaning "wandering".

No I'm the same. I've found all of it hard. I wonder if 12,5 is about making soup? Did you get 23d and if so is it Noyes? That's all I can find to fit.

5,12 is nothing to do with soup!
NO YES (vacillating) is correct.

I must say that I'm not entirely convinced about the last letter in 6d - the one that fits with the clue doesn't quite work for 12,5

I'd appreciate a hint for 6d. I know what it should sound like but I can't think of a food that would fit!

Well, it's done and, as with all Paul's offerings, there's no real sense of accomplishment unless your a Dick Van Dyke fan, or a fluent in Estuary English homophones.
Mostly I think his puzzles suck!

Thanks mamya. What a disappointment! It would have been so much better as "pork".

How does the last letter in 6d work with 12,5, mamya?
(Perhaps I am misremembering the word.)
