Mornin' all. (What the hell am I doing on a PC at this time of day...). One from yesterday:

Could it mean Virginia's landholding? = estate.

Many thanks.
JimC
Morning Pooksahib.

I think 'estate' ('e' + 'state') as Virginia is one of the USA's eastern states.

Thanks Jim. It was the Eastern part that foxed me. Now then:

Overwhelm unionist during hotel appointment = (I'm pretty sure)inundate.

And two I can't get so maybe explanation will be needed too...

Considering, say, taking year one in Berlin (6) (Letters 1 and 3 are both, probably, E)

Is this working in Rossini composition for strings? (5) R-S--

Many thanks.

Overwhelm unionist during hotel appointment. inundate = 'inn' around 'u' + 'date'.

Considering, say, taking year one in Berlin (6). This may be seeing as it has 'ein' in 'eg' .. well, ok, I don't get the wordplay.

Is this working in Rossini composition for strings? (5). This may be rosin (resin that's rubbed on the bows of musical instruments).

Maybe someone else has some better ideas?

The Rosin one.
rosin+is = anagram of rossini. (is working in rossini, i.e. take is out.

berlin one.
e)yein(g. = considering.
say = e.g. taking in y (year) and ein(one in german).
Bullfrog
Considering, say, taking year one in Berlin (6)
Y(ear)+EIN inside EG (say)= EYEING
Cornhill
Considering, say, taking year one in Berlin (6)
I put eyeing for this one.
The y from year with ein (one in german) inside eg.
Sorry I am not that good at explnations!
