I have no idea what you mean... anyway in the final grid there's no need to perform anagrams, just a smooth(-ish) transformation. of a single seven-letter string. The relevant position is hinted at by the word you should have highlighted.

Im finding this ev very hard even after readingf al the posts. i just dont seem to be able to understand what is wanted. iI haveonly just done a few clues and eventh e 2 that i think need letters taking out dont make sense becaues I dont' know which letter to take out. Think i will give up, Iwas getting on quite vwell with the past few weeks.

38a Cracks previously bring about new society. Before entry into the grid it has 5 letters, 3 of which are N,E,S

Hopefully the missing letter from these along with my other 6 will make some sense!!
