Is the 'w' definite Bryan?
The saying I'm familiar with is 'Sleep like log'. Just a suggestion.

Hi Bryan

9D Established .. Ordained

Just wondering what the clue is that gives the "W" in 1a as the suggested answer by aljanon would appear to fit the bill.

Ta. The clue that gives the W for 1A is Joint-seling ring (6) WASHER hence the W or is that wrong?

I think in this case the answer is probably "GASKET", and then you have the G that's needed.

The problem with 9D stems from the 'O' which is from RONNI ANCONA, the pos answer to 8A Ayrshire-born mimic (5,6) so could that be someone else?
