Thought I was doing really well here, but ground to a halt in BRH corner.
28a Nearly twenty have diarrhoea (5) ??A?R
35a Assistant returned with note intervening (7) ?E??Y?E
30a Piece of armour having signs of rust returning on base (7) I have AILETTE but can't see the cryptic.
Any pointers appreciated.

28a SCOUR - scor(e) U being the extra letter
35a MEDIATE - aide - assistant reversed inside me - note - extra letter T

My 19d was way out.

Explanation for 30A . Look up 'telium' plural is 'telia'. Napierian logarithm base is 'e'. Missing letter is 't'. Hope that helps.

On closer inspection the "extra" letter in 35a is M not T. TE is the note not ME.
