Thanks everyone can get on with my day now!

Just a minor point on weekday Guardian questions (no criticism intended!) - I would think that most enquirers would prefer hints to answers; after all, if they just want the answer, they could use the "Cheat" function on the website.

This doesn't apply to most other crosswords, as the "Cheat" is not necessarily available.

fair point Chrise. A hint would be better than a straight answer. A pity also there's no possibility to disable the "cheat" function.

fair enough, I don't do the guardian and was not aware of the cheat option.

I do think if hints are wanted rather than answers perhaps it should be stated,otherwise people may not know (like me).

You make a good point there, chelle - enquirers could give more indication of what they want.

....and I suppose that it's quite likely that solvers who only use the paper might also be unaware of the "Cheat" function!
