Definition is "county town of a little county" - sounds like what prisoners used to "pick"

Just a minor point on weekday Guardian questions (no criticism intended!) - I would think that most enquirers would prefer hints to answers; after all, if they just want the answer, they could use the "Cheat" function on the website.

This doesn't apply to most other crosswords, as the "Cheat" is not necessarily available.

fair point Chrise. A hint would be better than a straight answer. A pity also there's no possibility to disable the "cheat" function.
