I've got slight problems with two answers.
2 D. Drive over a week in Oban and get thoroughly wet there. (5) drou?
It's obviously 'drouk' (soaking wet) but I don't see 'a week in Oban'.
8 D. Won after many almost on fire at Ibrox (4) ?low
'Glow' fits, and could be 'on fire', but how does the rest work?

re 8d. aglow = on fire, so (a)glow would be almost on fire. Ibrox is at Gl(asg)ow. Just thinking to myself here. Just offering ideas, bad or otherwise ;)

Jazzgirl, thanks - I saw 'alow' given on AB the other day, so went with that.

The answer is certainly ALOW, Scottish for ablaze, Chambers 20th Century dictionary. Word play however, is: A lo (t) w, i.e.nearly a lot (many) with w for won. Cheers.
