I think "ship" is "bark" (alt. barque), so the definition is "Vocalisation of friend". Hence the "when separated" bit...

...make sense?

"Country setter has 2 briefly after 11" (6)

I think that 2 is "colour" and 11 is "huge", and I'm guessing the answer is Mexico, but can't see why?
