Have three solutions I haven't grasped,
providing my answers are correct.
39 Ac:- "Architectural features maligned,
places rear walls in". (7) S-F-I-S
Guess the answer is SOFFITS.
46 Ac:- "Companion endlessly munching
away, seeing fried food". (7) C-O-T-N
Guess that one is CROUTON.
53 Ac:- "Training up Bletchley Park
genius, hurry back to the front". (9)
N-R-U-I-G
That would seem to be NURTURING. I
can see "RUN" reversed at the front
but the allusion to code-breaking
hasn't yet surfaced!

Thanks, AB! I knew the code-breakers
were very clever chaps breaking Hitler's
wartime code, but I never actually knew
any of their names.

And if I'm not mistaken, some were
chapesses, I believe!
