I am not sure that static electricity is a dramatic display. It is certainly not a tasty thing. If it is dramatic, how does it arise from the rest of the clue?

Soapie certainly fits the letters, but I don't see it as "a tasty thing", so I am not comfortable witht he parsing. Guess I'll wait for the Courier Mail tomorrow to check whether either is right.
