Mr A

Marvin Gaye's"I heard it through the grapevine"

to the tune of Once in royal David's city...

Did you ponder on my uncovering
Of your intentions for my demise
Your reaquaintance with another
My affection overrides
My reaction's shock and awe
To events the day before

I have learned some information
Of the mess that you are in
Could you be leaving from the station?
Could I be off to the loony bin?
Sweetness, sugar definetely
I'm so sad , O woe is me

I am not inclined to weeping
But cannot seem to stem the flow
From a rooftop I'd go leaping
If your decision was to go
Could you not of told me more
Instead of acting like a whore?

Oh baby. So "Sweetness, sugar definitely" is "Honey, honey, yeah"? If you can work that into a descant for the final stanza I think we've got a hit. King's College Chapel, here we come. Love it.

Hymns for the 1980s
Margaret Thatcher

Tune "Immortal, Invisible" (St Denio?)

Immortal, invisible
On land and sea
Omniscient, strong- that's
Enough about me;
I came here to worship
The Lord, for as long
As He is a Tory
He can do no wrong.

Ambitious, audacious,
Arousing dislike
In all who oppose us-
We are so alike!
That's why he has lately
Entrusted to me
The public flotation
Of God, p.l.c.

Mrs. Thatcher has always reminded me of Aretha.
