Hi jazzy
If you read my post again, you'll see that I ALMOST did it in 10 minutes - the last (4 down) took about an hour for light to dawn!
23ac is a double definition, though the "dream up" bit is a bit lateral.

I've just had a thought.....
Is 23a a small door by any chance ?

Of course I did have what seems to be a major advantage - I knew what 10ac was!

Even looking at the images, It looks very complicated mechanism.
Just need a parsing on 5d Is the knight "N" and if so, where's the 3-wheeler? Not sure if my answer is correct (ends in Y)

Yes jazzy - sounds right. Not a word I had heard before, but the parsing is sound. You have a 3 letter "go" at the end - what is left if you remove the knight from the rest?

10ac works a bit like an escapement in a watch - it lets a cog rotate in only one direction unless it is lifted out of contact.

Ah, I was taking "shot" as an anagram indicator and not a "go". Finally got it, thanks. Off to do some housework to warm up.

Greetings everyone. Crossword 50 and 51 seem to have got out of sequence so am remedying this by bringing 51 up. Am, in a bit of a muddle about which clues belong in which crossword now. I am stuck on (for RT51)

16A Alien entry in journal concerning intake
24A Remorse for stuffing most of fruit in bird

Hope you are all well and surviving the shops.

By the way jazzgirl if you are still in touch with Caravaggio (on another site I believe) do wish him a happy Christmas from me. Maybe he will post himself when it is the Xmas bumper edition which should be next week if my calculations are right.

Greets to you Mondrian
I am avoiding the shops today (too many mad drivers and crowds !)
16a. The alien is ET & the journal is a diary. Anagram of the two = concerning the food etc. one needs ?
24a name of a seabird. (guilt on the outside)
I will see if I can get a message to Caravaggio somehow. Hope he does post, as we miss his wit and knowledge. Best wishes to you. J
