15d. "Short break for the PM after promotion is most precious". (9). I have P-I-S-E-T,and the only word I can fit in is 'prissyest' . If this is right, what's the word play?
If we hadn't had visitors today I would have lashed out 20p to find out. As it is, I forgot.
Can anyone kindly explain - or correct me?

short break = siest(a), which comes after the other bit that i can't understand.

Short break for the PM (pm = afternoon)
after- promotion (pr) is - .

Thanks for putting me on the right track,Trevor. With the corrected spelling, I think it goes PR (promotion) IS SIEST(A) i.e. the short break in the PM.
