second one looks like cameleer or muleteer i may be wrong

the second letter of the second clues answer needs to correspond to the third letter of the first clue thanks

A scupper is "a drain or spout allowing water on the deck of a vessel to flow overboard" or a "runaway affair"? Would give third letter u for muleteer?

not familiar with scupper as a drain,i generally think of it as a term meaning to sink,scuttle or ruin
