There are two clues I haven't been able to solve:

Men taking on those in charge rarely.

I've been able to deduce most of the unclued entries but they just seem to be random words and I cannot see what the vertical middle one is. That's ... ?

So BIAS is my other answer. BIS - repeat but not sure how the A fits in. Something unsatisfying about this puzzle and I rather regret the time I've spent on it.
