Hi Ros; been at this 20 mins; think I've found the first important key. Using the terms A-I for the squares and 1-9 for the small squares; Since E7=7 and E8=1,2 or 4, sum B8+B9 = 12,13, or 15.
Therefore Total A+B (- B2+B3) = 83, 84, 86
B2 and B3 can only be 1,2 or 4. So sum B8+B9
CANNOT be 12 (B2+B3 can't be 7) and CANNOT be 15 (B2 +B3 can't be 4) so MUST be 13.
More work to do, though! Got to go out now. Good luck!

Thank you so much, Paul. I always find it difficult to remember the key part of the solution.I have been in the wood all day as it was so beautiful, clearing brambles and stacking logs. And indulging in a fire, of course. When I get home (I'm at a friend's house) , I'll have another go.Will let you know how I get on. Thanks again x R

Finally! Yes that was the key discovery, and well done you. Don't think I would ever have seen that. They are getting more subtle. Thanks again.
