Have really struggled this week, currently stuck on 43a Chaps providing round, unknown couple getting a drink (5,4) I have:
B?C?S/?I?F . The only letters I am confident of are the B and S as I have seen these answers confirmed on other posts. Any help and explanation would be very welcome.

Yes

Chaps = Bucks
providing = if (round=back)
unknown couple = ZZ

Thanks andyc and mamya. This means that I've now got to rethink 38d Suggestion of shoer as brave leader? The letters I now have are:
?R?Z?/H?R?E Which suggests CRAZY HORSE. I realise that there was a Native American leader of that name and a shoer puts shoes on horses, but other than that I don't understand it.

Shoer is an anagram of horse

Thanks santaslittlehelper. I think I'm staring the obvious in the face but where does the crazy come from?

Crazy Horse was a native American war leader.

Hi mary6
Santaslittle helper seems to have gone away. It's crazy horse as "crazy" could be an anagram indicator for "horse" to give "shoer"

Thanks chrise. Seems a bit back to front but no doubt right. I've found many of the clues rather obscure this week.
