14a - sharp point scottish in chambers is neb with spades first 's' = sneb = old form of snub. Does this make 8d Ariel?

And 6d railing or raiding? Help please.

Thanks for the 'sneb' info.
I don't quite see how Ariel works for 8 D.
Re 6 D - I put 'railing', because rail = scoff. It's not a great clue.
