Thanks to Bluemoo2's post I have completed the top right hand corner - which up until then was baffling me as well.

However I have two others :

19A Country, in middle of recession, suffering (5)
S?A??
&
20D - Queen almost upset one area in former colony (7)
??G?R?A I imagine this may be ALGERIA or NIGERIA, but can't see why

Paul--I've been playing with this one but cant rationalise it! I can understand RE---D and I'm trying to understand Bishop= Man. Also does send back= remand

Good morning BlueMoo2!

I'm not certain of this one, but a "man" is a piece in chess (although purists may argue it is merely a pawn) and "remand" is simply to send back to jail...
