Hi Colin.

No.2 is (river) Ural = 'mural' - 'm' (for 'monsieur).

JimC and Aljanon,

Thanks both - absolutely brilliant. I would have been here all day. I can now go and watch my beloved Swansea City with a contented mind!!!!!

Aljanon, Magna Carta was well spotted as I had the second word beginning with L not C because in another clue I had put in GENERA'L' not GENERI'C'

However that now gives me one further poser

Clue: A truly incomplete state (4) -V-R

Any ideas?

aver (to) 'state' = 'a' + 'ver'y.

Actually, probably:

aver = (to) 'state' ... ('a' + 'ver'ily).
