Can anyone explain 6 down?

I have put in OPENING BAR for answer - musical connection - but I have looked at it for ages and just cannot see it! Help!

opening bat as in andrew strauss

Thanks from me too. It's always a surprise when they use living persons - the Times daily xword doesn't.
If I may add: "Opening bat" is an anag of "being top man" (waltz is the anag indicator) minus the M for millions.
