Evening all,

Syzzie sent me the Speccy and I've had a (proper)go at it for the first time. It's taken me a few days but I've finished it.
Well, apart from one clue I can't seem to parse, just wondering if one of your brilliant minds could help me with the wordplay.

CLUE: 40a)

Son made to swim across the Channel? He prefers video games (10)

I have: S-RE-N-GE-

I feel it must be SCREENAGER with the Def being 'He prefers video games'. A term coined in the 90's for kids who watch TV and play computer games all day

Any thoughts for the rest of the wordplay welcome?

Cheers aristo,

The French language has done me again, I see now Nager/Swim, but could you explain exactly how we get 'cree' , I did check that and came up with 'boiling or soaking' as one meaning and 'A tribe of Native Americans as another'
Am I being a bit dense here?

CREE is French for made/created

Not one of my languages either, but I believe cree (with accent on the first E) means created.

Creer is the infinitive.

There should be acute accents on both 'e's...

Ah! Sorry, both words are French then, I wasn't keyed into that then. Cheers guys, much appreciated.
Don't know if you had a go at this one, but it's quite a tricky little grid, some really tough clues.

Totally missed this. Rare venture to the forum. Sent you an e-mail.

Can anyone reference the def for 3D. The wordplay is obvious, but that term for beetle isn't.
