Can anyone explain two clues - 1Ac I have SPIRAL and 10D OVERCOLOURED. Also 28A - entered PUIE but I have no idea what the original clue answer is.

Thanks mr m. I had an error in the crossing word.
1Ac Wind, from the east, almost drops ball into round one. I think the answer is spiral with the wordplay lacking an r.
28Ac Pick-up that is more charming for cowboys. I can't see how PUIE with extra r or rr makes a word that means more charming.
Has anyone worked out where the shading goes?

Unclued, can't help with SPIRAL unfortunately.
PUIE comes from 'purtier' which is American for prettier.Remove 'r' and 'rt'.

Can anyone confirm that my shading is correct? 6th and 8th letters of 10D, 3rd letter of 23D and 1st letter of 26D. Thanks.

Leon - I think X lost his right hand and the other unclued lights wrote music for left handed musicians. That's my take on it - I don't think his brother is relevant here.
