Don't know whether anyone is still working on this, but I have a completed grid and 7 of the 9 letters ( M S O L O C E ). Any hints on the 2 clues that yeild the extra 2 letters?

I have found ten items: 9 in the grid and 1 to be written underneath. According to the preamble I need another 5 items to make 14 - can't see where these are coming from?
I've just about filled the grid. Those nine letters give me MO_S_CALE which, assuming I'm right, don't help me one bit. Also, I have DACIA for 6 down and I can't begin to see how putting that inside a word meaning "difficulty" will produce two words.

I gave the relevant 9 clue numbers in an earlier answer so you should be able to fill your blanks and find the 'scale'. 6 in that scale goes below the grid.
Crackabilly - the preamble is incorrect! There are 15 (not 14) misprints.

10 on the "Scale": 9 on the grid (with misprints) + 1 underneath the grid. Where are the other 6 sourced? A further hint would be appreciated - if it's not too obvious
