I don't trust you yet, AB. Les has me worried.

aristo, I will make an educated guess at the ones you have of AB's.
My prediction is that you may have answers to 44a & 24d ?

44a and 5d.

I was convinced I had an "AB" type answer for 44ac - unfortunately it has been contradicted by an incontrovertible crosser! (Nature abhors a......?)

Oh well that's good then, you're in the driving seat there with AB's clues, although they are all very fair clues, I would have found 5d the hardest of his entries to solve.
That's not fair really because I have all the answers here and I suppose what's hard for one solver can be easier for another and vice versa so take no notice of my ramblings on

Well, I'm calling it a night with four to go. 8, 23, 24 (I know what I think it is, but can't prove it) and 34. Hopefully, fresh eyes will help in the morning.

Finished but with several question marks. Some excellent clues! Exceptionally nice hidden ones I thought.

@ab Clicked right away with 5D & 44A, unless I missed the boat on the latter.
Stars for the clues though.
Haven't tackled 24D yet. Only about a dozen entries so far.
