hi ANDYC,i dont think it is "jamb"it does'nt fit in with the "downs"and i can't find anythin in dictionary that fits,only the two i posted, but thank you very much,

Sorry Beth I should have looked it up a stob is given as a stake,stump or stub, an awl. That might be it!
