Yes Barrycat I got that; but how is persons Capote???

& Jazzgirl - play definitely don't fit! & don't see how Palleas -which I did know - fits clue. Tho' you can make pale out of it, minus LAS - which ain't being cast out!

JAZZGIRL - you didn't misread, it's my mistake in post I put P_A_. But in fact it's P_L_. Sorry my mistake - still any ideas? BTW Athena is actually Pallas - so maybe answer is PALL - tho' still trying to fit it to clue.
