Does anbyone see how to choose between the (at least) 3 possible answers to 4a? One is not in Ch. but on CS; of those in Ch. I see no real way of preferring either, assuming both plurals are formed with a final S or indeed E.Sorry this can only make sense to those who've nearly finished, but "elsewhere" the "experts" can't agree, either..................

Hi Greedy Kite, if you look on utsire there are umpteen possible answers. I was going with living creatures till 39ac didn't work, so I think it's a case of just choosing one. I like the boat or maybe the birds of prey. What have you decided?

crossword-solver.utsire.com it's like word wizard. I prefer chambers but can't always get it to work.

I'm going for the boat. There is no clear theme to the five answers (apart from the overall theme ) and the boat is a well-known word.

Posts crossed there. You're right, not much help in this instance, too many choices. We'll just have to wait for the solution next month.

Just to add a bit of spice.

2D has 2 possibles, though the more common one seems more appropriate.
